Even after the 10 days of the death of an Indian youth in Iran, his family is yet to receive his body for the last rites. The family has been running from pillar to post to get his body back, but their voices have gone unheard.
The family alleged that the institute which sent him to Iran is not providing the relevant documents to the Iranian authority which has been delaying the process to send his body back to India. The victim’s family had approached the Embassy of India in Tehran and Delhi police to help them transfer the body of the deceased from Iran to India.
The deceased, a 20-year-old Pradeep Sharma and a resident of Burari, had been promised a job with merchant navy by a company based in Chhatarpur, but was instead sent to Iran to work as an engine operator around eight months ago and he died there. While talking over the phone to Millennium Post, the decease’s relative Dinesh C. Thaldi said that he is following up with the officials of Indian Embassy in Tehran to extend their support in order to expedite the process of transfer of body from Iran to Delhi (India) and further investigation of the case. He alleged that the company and the institute that sent him to Iran are not providing the insurance and visa documents which is instead delaying the process of transfer.
‘Pradeep died on 10 May in Iran where he was sent by a private coaching institute, IPSR Institute, on pretext of providing him a job with merchant navy. He died after prolonged illness while working there as a labourer,’ said Prabhat Kandpal, victim’s relative.
‘Pradeep had gone to Iran on 7 October, 2013. He used to talk to us on weekends over phone and informed us that he is not well there. He once said that he was forced to work like a labourer. For the past one month he did not contact us,’ said victim’s father, Haridutt Sharma.
Meanwhile, IPSR institute director denied all charges made by the victim’s family against them. ‘We are shocked to hear the news of the sudden demise of our ex student. We are doing our best to support the family by all possible means,’ said Ambuj Kumar, director of IPSR institute.
