On Sunday, when a team of Delhi police reached east Delhi’s Nand Nagri to conduct a raid on the basis of a tip-off to nab a culprit, the wanted criminal along with his two family members attacked the cops. All three attackers, were apprehended from the crime scene.
The arrested accused have been identified as Jile Singh, his wife Sunitha and their 14-year-old daughter. On a secret information, a team of three policemen posted at Nandnagari police station, Nitin, sub inspector, Raju Saini and Jasbir singh reached the house of Sunita to apprehend Jile Singh, an accused wanted in robbery and snatching cases.
Finding the police at their residence, Sunita and her daughter threw chilly powder on their faces. Meanwhile, Singh opened fire at them. The three policemen evaded the gun shots and tried to overpower the accused. The other two accused started pelting stones at the policemen in an attempt to escape.
In the mean time, the incident was reported by one of the policemen to the SHO who arrived at the spot along with more police force and apprehended the three accused.
On interrogation, Singh was found to be involved in several robbery cases and Sunita in selling spurious liquor.
After the attack, the injured policemen were rushed to the nearby Guru Teg Bahadur hospital. Two of them were discharged after first aid, while Jasbeer Singh is still undergoing treatment for his injuries.
A case under the appropriate sections has been booked against all the three accused for attacking the cops on duty.
