Residents on Sunday staged a protest outside the Begumpur police station in Outer Delhi, after the police failed to trace three girls, who are missing since February 11.
The police said on February 11, the girls went to their schools as usual but did not return till late in the evening, after which their parents started looking for them and filed a missing complaint.
“The girls have a mobile phone, but it is switched off. So, we are not able to identify their location. We are carrying out search operations to trace them,” said a senior police officer.
Residents blocked the Kanjhawala-Rohini road for over 45 minutes, alleging police inaction in the cases. It was only after senior police officials intervened that the girls' relatives and neighbours called off the protest. “No use of force was made to control the situation. However, the protest led to traffic snarls on the stretch,” added a police official.
