Delhi BJP unit simultaneously planned a strategy to reach out to Muslims in the national Capital by holding a meeting of the community on Thursday.
“As she was not available, Aligarh MP Satish Gautam addressed the public meeting in Gole Market planned for Sadhvi. Her meeting on Wednesday was also cancelled due to her busy schedule,” said a Delhi BJP spokesperson tactically avoiding to use the word ‘cancel’. According to sources, the party has cancelled all her future meetings and she would not campaign in the city for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.
A police application is, however, pending under investigation in Tilak Nagar police station but an FIR was not lodged by Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP has a meeting of the Muslim community to finalise strategy for ‘damage control’ and reach out to the community. “If BJP has come to power with full majority the contribution of Muslims is important,” said Satish Upadhyay, in the meeting.
He emphasised the contribution of BJP’s founder member Sikandar Bakht and leaders like Begam Khurshida Kidwai and Imdad Sabree.
The minority morcha was assigned the task to convey positive aspect of the government among minority community through pamphlets so that the “mud slinging” by rival parties could be neutralised.
“The target fixed by minority morcha for enrolling one lakh members is an inspiration for the whole party and due to this the number of members in Delhi has touched 11.34 lakhs,” he added.
The party also had a meeting of the women’s wing of the party which also included Muslim women and was addressed by BJP’s national Mahila Morcha president Vijya Rahatkar, Delhi BJP minority morcha chief Atif Rasheed and chiefs of various fronts of the party.
Upadhyay directed the women’s front of the party to induct 10 lakh housewives in each district of Delhi before elections are announced in the city.
