The stage is set to put in motion a collection of 13 remarkable Hindi stories. Get onto the theatrical bangwagon to watch Hindi Natya Utsav Char Rang commencing from 29 July. Adapted for the stage by four veteran directors, the 13 stage plays are here to attract the theatre lovers in Delhi. The first day will feature four plays – Usne Kaha Tha, Pajeb, Parda and Chief ki Dawat – all directed by Devendraraj Ankur. Other veteran directors to be featured in the four-day event are M K Raina, Tripurari Sharma and Bansi Kaul.
Helmed by the Department of Art, Culture & Languages and Hindi Academy, the four day festival of Hindi theater will be inaugurated by chief minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit, in the presence of veteran theater personality Vinod Nagpal who will be the Chief Guest and Ashok Chakradhar, the Vice President of the Hindi Academy. 'Hindi literature in general of which theater is also a part, is very rich in its stories and depictions. Over the years, authors and playwrights have experimented with multiple themes highlighting the issues we live with and the emotions we struggle with. This four day festival is our attempt to bring to stage some very interesting stories and depictions under the direction of some very respected directors,' says Dr Harisuman Bisht, Secretary, Hindi Academy.
A number of well known short stories by eminent Hindi writers are being dramatized for the stage. The celebration will see the veteran and renowned directors give their own touch to some well known stories like Bhishm Sahni’s Chief ki Dawat, Also on the list is writer Amar Kant’s two famous short stories Zindagi aur Jonk and Deputy Collector that will be dramatized on the last day.
The other plays that will feature in the four-day celebration are Kafan ,Faisla and Bheriye that will be staged on day 2 under the direction of M K Raina, besides Mulakat, Bahri Log, Stri Subodhini and Akeli will be staged on day 3 under the direction of Tripurari Sharma. The last day will see the presentation of Deputy Collector and Zindagi Aur Jonk directed by Bansi Kaul. Mark your calenders.
