Egypt to dig new canal alongside Suez Canal

Egypt will dig a new 72-km canal parallel to the historic Suez Canal, a move that will expand trade and generate revenue of US$ 100 billion and provide 1 million new jobs.

‘The project will be finished in one year,’ President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Tuesday announced during the opening ceremony of the Suez Canal Corridor project.  The new multi-billion dollar project is expected to generate a revenue of US$ 100 billion and provide 1 million new jobs, state-run news agency MENA reported.
