The mayor of East Delhi Municipal Corporation [EDMC] Annapurna Mishra declared that EDMC within six months the EDMC has shed the backward tag and emerged as number one among the three newly constituted local bodies in Delhi-North, South and East municipalities.
‘At the time of constitution everybody was asking how will EDMC survive but within six months we have done the work of over five years. Now they are surised and want to know how we have done this,’ said Annapurna Mishra. The mayor was addressing the employees of the corporation on the occasion of completing six months of the corporation on Thursday. The mayor innumerated the achievements of the corporation and projects in the pipeline. The mayor also realeased a booklet ‘Aaklan’ which innumerates the achievements and upcoming projects of EDMC.
‘The biggest achievement in so far has been formation of a team of both executives and political wing. The best thing with EDMC is coordination with executive and deliberative wing for the benefit of the the corporation and serving the people in the best possible way. We are getting full cooperation of political wing specially our mayor and chariman of the standing committee,’ said Sajjan Singh Yadav, Commissioner of EDMC. ‘The biggest challenge ahead is implementation of our approved projects and realisation of concieved projects. There is no shoratage of fund and we will be financially self-reliant in a couple of years,’ added Yadav.
Speaking on the ocassion chairman of the standing committee, EDMC Mahek Singh praised the effort of officers and employees of the corporation and asked them to work harder to rtain this number one position. ‘EDMC was started from zero point and we have achieved a lot in these six months but more is yet to be achieved,’ said Mahek Singh. Leader of Oposition Varyam Kaur, Leader of House B B Tyagi and all the officers and councillors were present in the meeting.
