To keep malpractices during the examinations under control, School of Open Learning of Delhi university is relying on technology. The examiner can now detect a dummy candidate by using QR code empowered by smart phone.
H C Pokhriyaal, executive director of School of Open Learning informed Millennium Post that ‘Smart phone having Internet would be able to download the QR application, the QR code will be automatically scanned by the camera phone and QR application system will instantly conform the identity of the student .’
According to him, ‘This has been done for the smooth conduction of the examinations, and this process will be implemented from this academic year. The QR system has been promoted by Delhi university to identity the students appearing for the examination. Through QR coding system no candidate will be able to get impersonated by dummy candidates.’
After the adoption of this high-end technology, the verification of the certificates of the students will also become easy. ‘This innovative technology in today’s digital scenario will give new way to the SOL of Delhi University’ added Pokhriyaal.
DU senior official said, ‘Cheating in examination is a serious academic offence, and most importantly when a student is caught during a cheating he/she is deprived of appearing in other examinations and would not be allowed to re-sit in exam for a year.’
