The Innovation research team of Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Delhi University, organised a national seminar on Media mediated realities and its impact on psycho-social well being'.
It was organised to highlight research findings and deliberate upon the impact of mass media on psycho-social well being.
Tripurari Sharan, director general, Doordarshan speaking on the occasion, appreciated the role of research of media products and its impact on behavior of the people at large.
'Such kind of research will maximise the benefit of media technology for information empowerment, skill building, and well being,' said Sharan. He also talked about developmental role of mass media to bring improvement in the development of a society.
Surender Kumar, joint secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, highlighted the role of mass media to spread awareness among the rural masses and talked about the educational empowerment of rural women and underprivileged children with the help of mass media technology.
Anand Prakash, dean (international), University of Delhi, appreciated the initiative of the innovation researchers to study media messages and its impact on psycho-social well being. 'It is a very unique initiative taken by the vice chancello of Delhi university,' he said.
The seminar had presentations from all over the country. A research initiative involving 10 undergraduate students and three teachers along with a mentor is ongoing for an year.
It is the first of a kind initiative in the country to study media and behavior relationship. This function was chaired by BR College principal G K Arora.
