DU wants 'rapist' professor to be suspended

Governing body of Delhi university's Satyawati College on Monday demanded the suspension of lecturer Virendra Singh, 30, who raped a 25-year-old girl student on 3 April. A member of the governing body on condition of anonymity said, 'We had a meeting on Monday at 10.30 am in this regard.' The governing body has tabled a proposal to DU administration demanding the suspension of Virendra Singh. According to sources, the girl was in a relationship with the lecturer. Delhi police has arrested the lecturer on the victim's complaint. The girl had lodged a complaint with N Katju Marg police station against the accused. In her complaint the girl said the lecturer promised her to marry but denied later.
