Stressed over his one-sided love affair, a 22-year-old Delhi University [DU] student committed suicide by jumping from an elevated Metro station in north Delhi on Wednesday. He was identified as Chetan, a resident of north Delhi’s Mahendra Park. He was pursuing B Com from Swami Shraddhanand College. ‘The incident took place on Wednesday, around 1.40 pm, when Chetan went to north Delhi’s Jahangirpuri Metro station and jumped. He was depressed over a failed relationship,’ said a police official. Some passersby immediately rushed him to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital and informed the police. He was then referred to Saroj Hospital, where he was later declared dead.
