A 37-year-old employee of a college affiliated to Delhi University was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sending obscene messages to an assistant professor in the same college. The complainant has alleged that the accused has been sending such messages to her for the past two years.

The accused has been identified as Suman Raj, who lives with his wife and daughter in Todapur and works as an attendant in the administrative office of the college. Officials of the Patel Nagar police station have seized his mobile phone and an FIR under section 354-D of the IPC has been registered against him.

The accused was produced before a court on Wednesday and has been remanded into fourteen days’ judicial custody.

‘Raj told the police that he was attracted to the professor and couldn’t resist the temptation of messaging her. He had sent similar messages to her in 2011 and the college administration warned him of dire consequences if he didn’t stop,’ a police officer said.
