DU decides to withdraw offline admission process

Update: 2016-03-29 00:50 GMT
For the academic session 2016-17 the Delhi University (DU) is going to completely withdraw the ‘offline’ admission facility. Decision regarding this, was taken by the admission committee of the Academic Council (AC) on Monday. In another major decision it has also been decided that after five admission lists if seats remain vacant, fresh registration of the applicants will be done.

The registration process for around 54,000 seats across DU colleges is set to begin from May 25 and will be concluded on June 14.

The online forms will be available on the university’s website.

“There will be no major changes in the eligibility criterion as the admission committee suggested only a few minor changes for the 2016-17 session,” A K Bhagi, a member of DUEC said.

This time again there will be no additional eligibility criteria imposed by individual colleges as last year it was scrapped by the admission committee and had instead formulated a uniform system which is to be applicable for admission to all the colleges.

“A student applying in five different colleges will have the same criteria for admission in all of them.

“Colleges will not be allowed to impose any extra eligibility criteria for students. Rules will be same for all and as set by the university,” Malay Neerav, Joint Dean Students Welfare of the DU said. “A detailed guideline on the whole admission process will be issued very soon,” he added.

The admission committee has also decided that computer facility for the admission aspirants will be provided in various colleges.

A dedicated team will be posted to facilitate the students in filling their online registration forms.

The online admission process was implemented last year but the offline admission option was open for the students.

Last year, the university had kept the offline admission process which was necessitated after students were unable to find all the courses in the online mode.
