DU also announces ‘clean campus’ drive from today

After schools and nation wide call by prime minister Narendra Modi for Clean India, University of Delhi (DU) will also be launching ‘DU Swachhata Abhiyaan’ on 2 October. The university has also constituted a committee for the purpose. The committee members will visit colleges and departments to raise awareness  about cleanliness, hygiene and safety. 

‘As the university’s colleges are spread across Delhi, 60-70 civic workers along with deputy commissioners will look after campus roads’, said a university official. He further added that first meeting of committee was held on Saturday in which it was decided that every college should constitute their own sub-committee for the purpose. 

The guidelines to colleges will be issued on Monday. ‘Also, college with the best cleanliness drive will be acknowledged. The committee aims at long term goal and hence, the drive will continue even after 31 October,’ the officer added. 

He said that the cleanliness drive will be held twice a week in all the colleges of Delhi University.
