The first day of registration in Delhi University was marred with technical glitches as students faced problems in depositing their fees online. According to the University administration, 37,850 students registered themselves online but only 8,791 could deposit their fees by 5 pm on Thursday.

According to Srijana, a Humanities department aspirant, it took her nearly four hours to register but she failed to make the payment.

“The State Bank of India payment gateway was very slow and never finished the payment process despite several attempts. Finally, I gave up after nearly an hour,” she said. The process for the online registration of aspirants in over 54,000 undergraduate seats began on Thursday.

Another aspirant of B.Com (Honours) in DU complained that the University website was taking a lot of time to load the pages and one would have to refresh again and again to register.

“The payment process could not be completed. I rushed to Delhi University North Campus to get assistance in filling up my form,” said Nihal Thakur.

The student associations <g data-gr-id="35">has</g> set up stalls inside the campus to assist aspirants for online registration and they too complained about <g data-gr-id="36">slow</g> online payment system. “A large number of aspirants came to us for assistance in filling up forms.
