Drunken driving kills two, injures three in South Delhi

The deceased have been identified as Amit and Navneet while Anil, Pankaj and Sandeep are the ones injured. It has been learnt that all five persons were under the influence of alcohol, because of which the driver lost the control of the vehicle and rammed into the divider.

All of them were residents of Sagarpur area and at the time of the accident, they were returning home after attending a party in Gurgaon.

The incident took place when the driver lost control of the car on Rao Tula Ram Marg, hitting the divider and then ramming into a tree.

“A passer-by saw the mangled car and made a PCR call, after which the injured were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where Amit and Navneet were declared, brought dead. The other three are recuperating,” said a police official.

A medical examination of the occupants of the car revealed that they were in an inebriated state at the time of the incident.  The police have registered a case for rash and negligent driving against the driver, who survived the incident. He will be arrested after being discharged from the hospital.

In another incident, a 26-year-old conductor of a cluster bus was crushed to death at a depot in Outer Delhi’s Kanjhawal area on Monday morning, as he was guiding the driver to park the bus.

The deceased has been identified as Kamal Kumar. The driver of the bus, Rakesh Kumar (28) has been arrested in the case.

“The incident took place at around 8 am when Kamal Kumar was guiding the driver to park the bus. Rakesh Kumar lost sight of the conductor, while reversing the vehicle and he was crushed under the tyres. He died on the spot,” said a senior police official.

A case has been registered under Section 304 (A) against the driver and he has been arrested.
