At that time, Indrani was staying in Kolkata’s (then Calcutta) YWCA and was new to the city. The two met through a common friend and fell in love. Indrani, during those days, ran a placement agency in the city.
During initial years, the two were happy. But “irreconcilable” differences shook their relationship and they parted ways, said Khanna’s family member.

On Thursday, after Mumbai Police was granted a five-day transit remand of Khanna, reports emerged that he has confessed to <g data-gr-id="38">have</g> been present in the car, in which Sheena was <g data-gr-id="40">abducted,</g> but had dozed off.
Khanna, an alumnus of Mayo College, shifted from his place to Ajay’s when he saw news of his alleged involvement in Sheena’s murder on TV. The two had initially thought of volunteering help to the police but later decided to wait for the police to turn up. Sources said Khanna’s marriage with Indrani ended on a bitter note when the duo allegedly fought over <g data-gr-id="29">Vidhie’s</g> custody.
Sheena’s grandpa <g data-gr-id="56">refutes</g> Indrani’s claim
Upendra Kumar Bora, father of Indrani <g data-gr-id="85">Mukherjea</g>, has refuted his daughter’s claim that murdered Sheena Bora was his daughter. “She is not my daughter. I am her grandfather,” Bora (80), whose name was said to have been given by <g data-gr-id="58">Indirani</g> as <g data-gr-id="53">father</g> in the birth certificate of Sheena, who was born on <g data-gr-id="54">February,</g> 1989. He named Sheena's father as one Siddarth Das. Asked if there was another person in Shillong who is believed to be Sheena’s biological father, Bora said: “That needs to be explored.”
