Digha will soon to get a Dolphin Park which will be the second of its kind after Singapore.

The Digha-Shankarpur Development Authority has come up with a proposal to set up the park and the work to prepare a details project report has already been started. The park will come up in a PPP model.

The development authority has already approached the state government with the proposal. The place where the park will come up has also been identified. If everything goes as per plan, the park will soon come up in New Digha.

At present, hundreds of people visit Singapore to watch how dolphins perform almost like a human being. They perform different games and dance at the tune of music. There are some places in the country for preservation of dolphins, but Digha will be the first place after Singapore where a world class dolphin park will come up.

It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had ordered to give a new look to the most popular sea side destination of the state. Accordingly, various development works have taken place in Digha and facilities were developed to attract more tourists. Most importantly, Digha has been connected with helicopter facility from the city.

On Wednesday, the biggest marine museum that came up in Digha has been inaugurated. Earlier, there used to be only different kinds of sea fishes in the aquarium. But from now onward tourists can also take a look at different types of shells, snakes and sea horses at the museum.

The tour operators in the city feel that the footfall in Digha will just get doubled with the setting up of the Dolphin Park. Not only people from different parts of the state, but from across the country will start visiting the sea beach round the year.

“It will also help to attract tourists from abroad. Today people go to Singapore. Once the dolphin park will come up people from abroad will start coming to Digha,” said a tour operator.
