A doctor from Kanpur who had come to the national capital went missing from a hotel at Paharganj in central Delhi. This could be a case of abduction, said police on Friday.
As narrated by police, Dr Shakti Bhargav (43) from Kanpur had come to Delhi and boarded a hotel at Paharganj, on Tuesday. He last checked out from the hotel on Wednesday morning after breakfast and never returned. Since then, there has been no communication with the family too. He has two mobile numbers and both are switched off since Wednesday.
On Thursday, his wife – who is also a doctor in Kanpur – landed in Delhi and enquired at the hotel. They checked the records and a call was made to the police station at Nabi Karim. Police is still searching for Dr Bhargav, said a police official. Though the family hasn’t received any calls for ransom yet, this could be a case of abduction. ‘Things are too unclear to predict anything right now.
A missing report has been registered and Investigation is in process,’ said Alok Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police (central). Police is now investigating the CCTV footages of the hotel and questioning each and every person who works there, said a police official.
