DMRC achieves third tunnel breakthrough at Janpath

The DMRC on Tuesday achieved the third tunnel breakthrough of Delhi Metro’s Phase - III project at Janpath Metro station by completing the tunneling of the up line of the Mandi House– Janpath stretch. Managing director, DMRC, Mangu Singh, was also present on the occasion.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokespersons said that the tunnel boring machine (TBM) emerged at the Janpath Metro station site after making a 1516 metre-long tunnel from Mandi House rotary on the up line. The TBM had been lowered in the Mandi House shaft on 25 September, 2012  and after assembling the TBM below the ground, the initial drive began last October.
