Delhi Chief Secretary DM Spolia on Wednesday got a month’s extension in view of the upcoming Delhi assembly polls. The 1979 batch IAS officer was to retire on January 31, 2015.
The EC has shot off a letter to Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, on the subject cited and stated that the Commission has no objection to the proposal of extension. “Spolia will be the best man to take care of the poll-bound city’s administration as he is an old hand in the secretariat,” said an official source.
There are indications that Spolia may also help the new city government to take charge before leaving the post.
