With one day left for the completion of 100 days of the AAP government, Delhi Jal Board’s Chairman and CEO presented, on Saturday, a booklet containing 100 achievements of the board in 100 days to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
The booklet informs that the board has been successful in giving free water, upto 20 kiloliters a month (about 700 litres a day) to the citizens of Delhi from March 1, 2015, which has benefitted around 10.5 lakh consumers including residents of co-operative group housing societies.
The booklet further informs that major relief has been given to the residents of unauthorized colonies by reducing water development charges from Rs 440/sq meter to Rs 100/sq meter and also the sewer development charges of these areas have been reduced to Rs 100/sq meter from the earlier Rs 494/ sq meter. It is also interesting to note that the Board has waived off late payment surcharge of Rs 186 crores benefiting thousands of consumers.
The board says that they have been successful in commissioning two water treatment plants and have also extended filtered water supply to villages and unauthorised villages under Bawana. The Board in these 100 days have laid down 24 kilometres of new water pipelines and have replaced 42 kilometres of old and rusted water pipelines to avoid contamination.
DJB in this period have taken cognisance of the contamination of Yamuna and have made an overall progress of 75% in the work of the interceptor sewer to prevent sewage flow into the river and drains. In the wake of e-governance the board has launched a website for speedy redressal of public grievances and is said to be running successfully. It has also strengthened a web based online tanker monitoring system and installed GPS in 450 additional tankers.
In a drive to maintain an anti-corruption environment, the board suspended 31 employees, issued charge-sheets to 36 employees and dismissed 11 employees on them being found guilty of illegal acts.
These apart the booklet released by Delhi Jal Board has a list of other achievements, undertaken projects and administrative measures which have been initiated in these 100 days.
