Ahead of peak summer, Delhi Jal Board has stepped up efforts to ensure sustainable water supply in the national Capital, an official said on Monday, even as its CEO reviewed the implementation of the action plan for the hot season.
“Delhi Jal Board Chief Executive Officer Vijay Kumar has reviewed the implementation of Summer action plan. The Board has already taken various steps to ensure sustainable water supply in this summer,” The CEO directed all the officers to complete all the preventive maintenance activities of the water treatment plants and the associated infrastructure works by the month end to avoid any major shut down in summer.
The DJB claimed that out of 1,693 unauthorised colonies water supply has been released in 913 un-authorised colonies. Piped water supply in the remaining unauthorized colonies will be extended in a phased manner. DJB further claimed that the work of laying of water lines in 100 unauthorized colonies are in progress and process of estimation and tendering is under-way in the case of 88 unauthorised colonies.
