In its bid to provide potable water at high pressure, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on Friday commissioned a seven million litre capacity underground reservoir (UGR) and a booster pumping station at Shahdara here.

“This is an important step in ensuring that the basic necessity of the residents of the area is met. This is a part of the mandate of DJB to expand and augment the piped water network services within the city,” said a senior officer.

The commissioning of the UGR would provide piped water supply at enhanced pressure to the areas like Old Shahdara group of Companies, Bihari Colony, Bhola Nath Nagar, Shalimar Park, Shalimar Park Extension and the adjoining areas in the trans-Yamuna region.

The water supply will be available everyday from 6 am to 8 am in the morning and 6 pm to 8 pm in the evening.
