Dispute redressal forum soon to be in place: HUDA

In a desperate move to address the growing resentment amongst the residents of Gurgaon against the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), the city will soon have a Disputes Redressal Forum with an aim to reduce the public grievances and litigation in HUDA areas by organising grievances redressal camps.

According to sources, the move comes after the underperformance that development authority has shown in the past months affecting the progress on important infrastructure projects of the city. Sources said that higher HUDA authorities in Panchkula have assigned Yashpal Singh, the new HUDA administrator with the task to ‘change the face of the cash- strapped authority’ in Gurgaon. On Monday Yashpal Singh took over after an ‘unceremonious’ transfer of the former HUDA administrator Hardeep Singh, who was shown the door within five months of his posting. Yashpal Singh is the third administrator for Gurgaon zone in less than six months.

HUDA will organise camps to resolve public grievances and for issues pertaining to Estate Office-I, Gurgaon, for which camps will be held on June 4, 11, and 18. For redressal of grievances relating to Estate Office-II area, camps will be held on June 25, July 2, and July 9.

Singh said his priority would be to engage with RWA, activists and the civil society to implement rainwater harvesting systems, improve sanitation, garbage collection and address other issues. “We will also work on detailed plans on issues relating to waterlogging and cleaning of drains to avoid inconvenience to residents,” Singh added.
