Even though the power demand in the city has come down to 3,263 MW in the last 24 hours, the power cuts in the national capital is on the rise. Both power discoms in the city – Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and Tata Power Limited – are organising power cuts in the name of maintenance work for the last three weeks. The frequent power cuts has left the parents in the lurch. The parents of the aspirants set to appear in various entrance examinations such as PMT and engineering are most worried about their wards. The ‘power-cut’ game by the both the discoms is continue since January 2014.
This is not all. Delhiites would have to face even longer power cuts, which have been scheduled for 15 April. Power discom on Friday informed that they have scheduled maintenance work for their transformers, lines and other electrical installations.
The areas covered under Reliance-led BSES ( Rajdhani) will be badly affected by this shortage in supply, in comparison with areas that receive electricity from Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL). In 37 areas that receive electricity from the BSES (Rajdhani) discom, power will be unavailable for approximately seven hours.
Meanwhile, in 27 areas receiving electricity from TPDDL, power cuts are expected to run up to a maximum of seven hours. According to Delhi Transco Limited, BRPL will go on planned maintenance between 10 am to 5 pm on 15 APRIL . Localities facing power cuts as a result will include Hauz Khas(part of C-1, Part of C-7 and Part of safder Jung enclave), KhanPur ( Madangir Village), Punjabi Bagh, Sarita Vihar( Zakir Nagar) , Nehru Place ( part of Subzi Mandi) Alakananda, Dwarka, Janakpuri, Najaf Garh, Nangloi, Palam, Punjabi Bagh, Saket and Sarita Vihar. Power supply will be affected on above areas.
In Tata Power Delhi distribution Limited( TPDDL)-run areas, residents will have to face major power cuts lasting for four to seven hours on 15 April in areas such as Rohini, Shalimar Bagh, Narayana, Narela, Civil Lines, Badli, Shakti Nagar, and Model Town.
