Long-outages continued in the Reliance-owned BSES (Rajdhani & Yamuna) power limited areas, while there were literally no power cuts in Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) areas on Wednesday.
The Delhi government speeded-up the restoration work of power plants and other damaged lines by forming Special Task Force which will take upon the projects on priority basis. Delhi government and BSES (BYPL & PRPL) issued a separate power bulletin on Wednesday. Discoms have been directed to restrict load shedding to one hour at best on rotational basis. ‘All discoms will ensure through surprise inspections that their complaint centers are operational on 24x7 basis. They have also been directed to immediately replace all their vulnerable or faulty lines,’ said senior government official.
The power companies have been directed to increase the number of their mobile teams to constantly monitor the status of their distribution transformers all over the city, so that local faults can be addressed in real-time.
All the planned outages and load shedding schedules of the discoms will be released in advance and will be available on the website of the concerned companies as a daily bulletin. This will also be released to the electronic media and will be updated at 8 am daily, said the official.
According to BSES bulletin, a major part of BSES consumers will have to face power outages atleast for one hour. In BYPL areas such as Dilshad Colony, Yamuna Vihar, Shakkarpur, Ganesh Nagar, Seelampur, Shahadara, Muajpur etc. Similarly, in BRPL areas are Vikaspuri, Janakpuri, Mohan Garden Rajouri Garden, Daulatpur, and Hari Nagar. While Power distribution utility Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) on Wednesday claimed to have met 100 per cent electricity demands in its jurisdiction despite reports of prolonged power cuts in rest of the city. TPDDL, which supplies power to nearly 30 percent residents in north and northeast Delhi, said there were no power cuts or load shedding in its areas spread across 510 sq kms.
The Tata discom has claimed that it has supplied an all-time record of 1546 MW of power in its areas on Tuesday. ‘It was also an all time record in terms of energy supplied i.e 31.7 million units compared to 30.3 millions units compared to June last year,’ the TPDDL said, adding the utility was making all of them provide uninterrupted electricity and has arranged for adequate quantity of power and healthy network to meet the peak summer requirements.
Giving details of the on-going work at various power plants, which doesn’t seem to be completed before 16 June, he said, generation of additional 220 MW of power has begun from Bawana
(Pragati-III) Power Plant after additional gas was made available on Tuesday night.
