Development department pulled up

The Delhi Lokayukta on Wednesday day pulled up Urban Development department of city government for failing to comply with its order to produce original documents to probe alleged tampering of a Cabinet decision related to development works in certain unauthorised colonies.

In an order, Lokayukta Justice Manmohan Sarin gave a deadline of 10 days to the government to produce the original Cabinet note and some other documents.

He also warned senior officials of the UD department of initiating penal proceedings if they fail to comply with the order. The Lokayukta is probing a complaint that development works were carried out in 11 unauthorised colonies by alleged tempering of a Cabinet decision dated
20 November 2007.

The Lokayukta on 13 July had asked the UD department to produce the original Cabinet decision and some other original documents related to laying of roads and development works in a number of unauthorised colonies.
