Depicting Assam through dance

Assam Tourism Department is soon presenting Ankiya Naat Bhaona, a 15th century dance drama from Assam, which will be performed by 50 leading film actresses of Assam in the capital. The performance will be held on 24 May, Saturday at the Mavalankar Hall. 
Assam Tourism Development Corporation, will be presenting a glorious cultural legacy  of Assam, the Ankiya Naat Bhaona to the art and culture lovers of Delhi. The Ankiya Naat dance form was created by Srimanta Sankardeva, the great saint and social reformer of Assam to propagate Neo-Vaishnava religion in Assam. 
Sankardeva, created Ankia Naat by bringing various aspects from the ancient Sanskrit drama, traditional dramatic art forms and his own innovative ideas. 
Ankia Naat has today become a distinctive traditional performing art form in the field of dramatic arts of India.
Assam Tourism has partnered with Raginee, a socio-cultural organization based in Guwahati to introduce this exciting cultural tradition of Assam to patrons in the city. 
A team of over 50 renowned film actresses from Assam will participate in a performance depicting Ram Bijoy (the Victory of Ram) a set of stories from the Ramayana. The script of the dance drama is called  Ankia Naat and the performance is referred to as Ankia Bhaona.
Government of Assam has taken the initiative to introduce and expose cultural traditions of the state of Assam to audiences across India and global destinations. 
'Assam has a rich cultural heritage and we see great opportunity in building tourism properties around our cultural heritage’ says V.S. Bhaskar, Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, Department of Tourism and Transport.
The Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi is expected to attend the event as the chief guest. Leading artists and distinguished personalities from the field of music, dance, drama from Sangeet Natak Academy, Shriram Bhartiya Kala Kendra, AIFACS, SPIC MACAY will also be attending the event.
