The national capital has registered 430 confirmed cases of dengue in just three days. According to the reports released by the nodal agency for dengue, three more patients came from neighbouring states.
‘These reports are based on the data provided by around three dozen Delhi hospitals and gives a glimpse into the trend of the disease which is spreading at an alarming pace,’ said a senior officer of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation.
Reports suggest that out of these 430 cases, a maximum of 98 cases were reported from Shahadara South zone followed by 58 from
Rohini zone.
So far Delhi has registered 2,522 dengue cases out of which maximum 1,205 were from North DMC, 653 from South DMC, 565 from East DMC, 54 from New Delhi Municipal Council and 35 from neighbouring states.
A maximum of 567 cases of dengue have been reported from Rohini zone alone.
So far, the authorities have confirmed three dengue deaths and seven suspected dengue deaths, however unofficial sources put up the casualty figure to over a dozen. Besides dengue, six cases of Chikungunya, another mosquito-borne disease have been reported so far.
The corporations claim that they are deploying mobile health units and providing treatment facilities at their dispensaries and polyclinics. ‘We have issued orders that any patient coming at the hospital must be treated properly. The diagnosis and platelets in our hospitals are completely free,’ said Mayank Sharma, additional commissioner (health) of North DMC.
