The facilities and arrangements made by the civil hospital in the millennium city are unable to meet the sudden spurt in the number of dengue cases. Dengue cases in Gurgaon reached as high as 209 with only 6 beds in the city civil hospital sanctioned for patients with dengue symptoms in the medical ward.
“In just 15 days, the hospital has registered a total of 1,800 people who have come to be tested for dengue,” Dr Pushpa Bishnoi, the Chief Medical Officer, <g data-gr-id="26">civil</g> hospital said.
The hospital has a capacity of 200 beds divided among casualty wards, ICUs, beds for dengue patients and other diseases. As per the data given by top five private hospitals in Gurgaon, about 40 patients with dengue-like symptoms visit the OPD <g data-gr-id="24">everyday</g>.
Looking at the condition of the dengue patients and the increase in the cases, the director of health declared high alert in the city on Thursday.
All government and private blood bank management systems have been asked to comply with all the hospitals. The hospital has decided to provide two units of platelets at a price of Rs 11,500.
According to the District Medical Officer, most of the cases have been reported from the posh areas such as Sectors 15, 56, 40, DLF phase II and III and most of the patients fall in the age group of 18-35.
“A platelet separator machine has been installed at the civil hospital in Gurgaon for the convenience of patients,” Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner, T L Satyaprakash said.
