Dengue cases rise to 26 in Delhi, NCR

The number of dengue cases in the capital and the adjoining areas have rose to 26 till now, off which maximum nine cases were reported from the areas of South Delhi Municipal Corporation followed by four cases in East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC).

According to figures from the municipal corporations, 21 cases of dengue have been reported from the capital and five from the adjoining areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana until 16 August.

Compared to previous year, this year the dengue cases have decreased. Last year till 16 August, there were 54 cases of dengue, 48 of them were reported from Delhi and six from adjoining regions.
Similarly, 23 malaria cases have been reported from the capital.

The civic bodies have so far found 75,717 houses positive for breeding, issued notices to 66,655 houses. The officials have also prosecuted 4,571 houses in the capital. Targeted spraying have been done in over two lakh houses.

‘We have alerted all the Dengue Breeding Checkers (DBC) workers to inspect all the places. The public was also made aware against the spread of disease,’ said Mukesh Yadav, public relation officer of SDMC.
