Parliamentary secretary to Delhi chief minister and spokesperson of the Congress Legislative Party, Mukesh Sharma, on Wednesday said that criminal cases under various sections of the Indian Penal Code should be registered against the mayors and responsible leaders of the three BJP-led corporations for the dengue epidemic.
Sharma said that firstly, the BJP did nothing to prevent the outbreak of dengue and secondly, they are now presenting wrong data on the total number of dengue cases to shirk responsibility.
He said that the situation was so bad that every third house had at least one dengue case with everyone from children to the elderly suffering from the disease. Sharma said that private hospitals are full of patients in thousands and the BJP led MCD conveniently does not include their numbers in their data lists.
He said that unless immediate steps are taken, the likelihood of dengue assuming epidemic proportions is looming large.
Sharma made the remarks while addressing a large gathering in the Bindapur Peer Baba maidan prior to leading an Sadbhavna and Sankalp rally in the area.
