Yashwant Sinha may contest Lok Sabha seat on AAP ticket

NEW DELHI: Speculation over giving a Lok Sabha ticket to former BJP leader and Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha has increased within the party as the 2019 election knocks at the door. Party sources said that the leader might stand from the New Delhi Lok Sabha Constituency.

Speculation is rife that the AAP is also in talks with disgruntled BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha to field him from West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. However, the actor-turned-politician has expressed his unwillingness to leave his Patna Sahib constituency in Bihar, added the AAP leader.

Yashwant Sinha was a part of the cabinet of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government. Earlier this month, both Yashwant Sinha and Shatrughan Sinha had taken part in the Aam Aadmi Party's Jan Adhikar Rally in Noida Sector 46, joining the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to slam the Central Government.

AAP opines that the image of former bureaucrat Yashwant Sinha will help the party get a huge number of votes from the New Delhi constituency. Meanwhile, another AAP leader has alleged that rebel BJP leaders –ex-Union minister Arun Shourie and suspended BJP MP Kirti Azad –too are in touch with the party. Of the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, AAP has declared constituency in-charges for East Delhi (Atishi), South Delhi (Raghav Chadha), Chandani Chowk (Pankaj Gupta), Northeast Delhi (Dilip Pandey) and Northwest Delhi (Gugan Singh).
