Women assistance centre to come up in Gurugram

Gurugram: An assistance centre for women affected by sexual crimes will soon be set up in Gurugram, though the Nirbhaya fund.
The centre will be set up near the District Mini Secretariat, with Rs 40 lakh earmarked for its construction. All major services, such as policing, medical and legal counseling will be provided under one roof at the centre.
"There are seven districts in the state, wherein these centres will be set up. Gurugram is among them. With the setting of the centre, we hope that the difficulties faced by women who are affected by sexual crimes will be reduced greatly," said Vinay Pratap Singh, Gurugram Deputy Commissioner.
Meanwhile, led by Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar, senior police officers of the rank of DCP will be involved in overseeing the functioning of the women's helpline 1091.
