Ghaziabad: A 35-year-old woman allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming poison after administering poison to her three minor sons at her house in sector 15 of Vasundhara area in Indirapuram of Ghaziabad on Friday.

According to police, the woman has been identified as Vimal Rajput (34), while her three sons are Prabal (16), Bhavya (08) and Akshar (07), all living at a rented house in Vasundhara Sector 15. As per reports, the woman belongs to Mathura and she got married in 2002 with Mohan, a native of Agra. Mohan works as an operator in printing press in Noida while Vimal is a housewife. Police officials said that the kids are stable while the woman continued to be critical and is admitted to the hospital. Police suspect family feud to be reason behind the incident.

"Police received the information from woman's family doctor whom she called after consuming poison. She allegedly gave poison to her three sons in the form of tablet saying that the pills are to cure fever. After three of her sons consumed the pill, she also consumed poison and called her doctor," said Mahendra Singh, incharge of Indirapuram police station.

"Police immediately took the victim and her three sons to nearby Atlanta hospital for medical treatment and also informed the police about the incident. All the three kids are stable but the woman continued to be in a critical condition. Prima facie we are not clear as to how the woman took such an extreme step but we suspect a family feud to be reason behind the incident. We will question her once she gets consciousness," Singh added.
