Woman jumps off her balcony, still critical

New Delhi: After a heated argument with her husband, a woman threw her two children and then jumped off the third floor of her house in Lalita Park area of Laxmi Nagar. Both minors died on the spot while the mother is seriously injured and is admitted in the hospital.

The incident occurred late on Monday in Lalita Park of Laxmi Nagar. Neighbours heard a loud thump and came to see the horror of their life. Soon police were informed.

"A PCR call was received at about 9 pm on 25.3.19 in PS Laxmi Nagar that a lady and her two kids have fallen from the roof of the house. On reaching the spot at N block Lalita Park, it was found that Alia, 34 yrs, wife of Munawar lives on 3rd floor of the building. Alia and her daughter aged 7-8 yrs had fallen on the roof of the neighbouring building and her son, aged 3-4 yrs had fallen in street. Both the children were declared brought dead in Hospital," Jasmeet Singh, DCP East said.

Aliya, 34, mother of seven-year-old Mehak and three-year-old Aafraan pushed the two children from her balcony. Aafraan landed on the ground, while his sister and mother fell on the first-floor balcony.

"Aliya has been admitted to the LBS hospital, and is critical," he added.

"Probe suggests Aliya took the extreme step after her husband, Munawar Ali, left the house following some argument," an officer said.

"We have registered a case under section 302, 309 of IPC and probing the incident. The husband was away to his shop when the incident happened, the woman is unfit for statement till now," said
