New Delhi: A woman and her four-year-old son were murdered in Central Delhi's Patel Nagar area on Thursday. The investigating agency said that the cause of the death of lady seems to be strangulation followed by throat slitting. Police is probing the case from all angles.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa said that they were alerted after a PCR call was received at Patel Nagar police station at 7.03 pm on Thursday.
The caller told police that one boy has been hanging at house situated in Prem Nagar in Patel Nagar, Delhi. Within few minutes the law enforcement agency received another PCR calls.
"Subsequently, another call was received at 7:09 pm from the same caller regarding a murder of a lady had taken place in Prem Nagar," police said. The team from Patel Nagar police station reached the spot. At the place of incident one lady identified as Roopa Devi (26) was found murdered. Her throat was slit and she was lying on the floor.
The investigators further found that her four-year-old son was also found dead lying on the floor.
It is being suspected that the toddler died apparently due to hanging.
"The husband of deceased identified Rajiv Kumar is informed to be working in a factory at Rama Road in Moti Nagar. Investigation is being conducted in the matter," added DCP Central Delhi.
"The probe is going in the case from different. We are questioning several persons to gather clues in the case," said an officer. A case under appropriate sections of IPC has been registered. As many as 164 murders reported different parts of National Capital in the first four months of 2019."As many as 83 murders were the result of enmity or disputes," data said.
The data further revealed that sudden provocation, trivial issues led to 21 murders.
