The Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested a woman from Manali for human trafficking and running a sex racket in the Capital. Keballina M Sangma is a member of an inter-state prostitution racket.

Sangma used to lure girls from the North-Eastern states with the promise of good jobs in Delhi, the police said. Later, she would force them into sex trade.  "Sangma was arrested on February 21 from a Hadimba Devi Temple at Manali in Himachal Pradesh," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav. The woman is married and worked in a beauty parlour earlier.

"Sangma came in contact with one Taniya through her friend Tyana Sangma in Guwahati. Taniya introduced her to Biru, Dhanraj and Nikhi who were living in Delhi and were into human trafficking. They would lure innocent girls with attractive jobs," Yadav said.

"Sangma is a resident of Meghalaya and used to target girls who were living separately and needed money," he added. This gang was active in South Delhi and Gurgaon. She carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on her head.

A woman from Meghalaya had filed a complaint against Sangma and others last year who said she was brought to Guwahati on the pretext of a job but later forced into prostitution.
