Woman alleges sexual assault while dining out at Hauz Khas village

A woman, who was out with her friends in Hauz Khas Village on Saturday night, has alleged she was sexually assaulted by an unidentified person, who had offered her a ride back home.

The woman was allegedly taken to Deer park area, near Hauz Khas village, where she was sexually assaulted on an isolated stretch. She later made a call to the police and informed the police. A case has been registered at a local police station, and the police are on the look-out for the accused.

According to the police, the case came to light when the woman made a PCR call late in the night informing the police that she was sexually assaulted. The police had the next morning registered a case and sent in teams to the locality to inquire about the incident.

"The woman has told us that she was out with her friends in Hauz Khas village, and after dining in one restaurant, the group had left the area and was on their way home. The woman, who parted with her friends, and was later approached by an unidentified man," said a senior police official. The man had allegedly offered the woman a lift back home, which she agreed to. Later, the woman was allegedly taken to an isolated stretch in the adjoining deer park and sexually assaulted. She somehow managed to free herself from her attackers and managed to call the police.
The police had in the morning sent in multiple teams to investigate the case. "We had seen a heavy police presence. They had literally visited every hotel in the vicinity and has also talked to people nearby," said Keshav, a resident.

Private security guards near the Hauz Khas village, Fort and Deer park areas said that they had not noticed any commotion during the time of the incident. 

"We did not know about the incident until this morning. We noticed no such commotion, and the guards who were posted for the night duty may know about this, but we have not heard anything from them as well," said private guards posted outside Deer Park.

The police, in the meantime, have claimed that they have found vital clues and will soon be able to catch the accused. The woman, in the meantime, has undergone medical and counselling sessions.

"We are in touch with the woman, and she is being counseled to help her recover from the trauma," the officer added.
