After normal search methods failed to yield results, police worked on the traditional methods such as making announcements at mosques, public places and mobilising the local crowd to locate three-year-old boy kidnapped from Gokalpuri in North East district.
On Wednesday around 8 pm, the boy's father realised his son was missing. After searching for him for some time, the father reached the police station and lodged a complaint. Cops registered a FIR fo kidnapping and swung into action.
The message was flashed and the information was loaded on ZIPNET (Zonal Integrated Police Network) and data of kidnapping with similar modus operandi was analysed. All adjoining police stations and roads from Nand Nagri to Wazirabad flyover and from Gokalpuri to Seelampur were checked.
Soon, cops turned to traditional techniques and announcement by all mosques in the locality were made. When no clue regarding the boy's whereabouts were found, a method of large-scale publicity regarding was adopted and teams went from door-to-door in the area to search for clues.
"We adopted the method of community policing and the available local crowd of around 100 people was mobilised in a constructive manner and briefed to search the missing boy." said DCP North East, Dr Ajit Kumar Singla. The methods soon bore fruit and the boy was found alone near Loni on Thursday around 6 am. "We are investigating how the boy reached there," Singla said.
