New Delhi: It was around 3 pm on Saturday when police station Sabji Mandi got a PCR call and the caller claimed that his differently-abled son was missing from the government hospital in North Delhi. The police reached the spot and started a search and finally, after three-hour manual search, they found the six-year-old kid outside the building.
According to police, the child's family visited the hospital with his son to meet their ailing relative when Ajay (name changed) went missing. When the police team met the family they came to know that the parents did not have any photographs of their kid.
"He was differently-abled and unable to speak so we started a search and went to check the CCTV footages of the hospital," said a police officer adding that during scanning they saw the child and his CCTV pictures were clicked and distributed among other police personnel. The SHO (Sabji Mandi) also joined his team.
In some parts of the hospital, CCTV was not accessible, so the police team manually searched more than 10 rooms and questioned several people regarding the details. "We did not find him in the hospital so we started searching outside and the team spotted the kid sitting near the hospital," said the police officer. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Nupur Prasad told Millennium Post that the child was traced and restored to parents.
"Father of the child Virender is a daily labourer in a private factory at Jharoda," said the DCP. The Delhi Police data accessed by Millennium Post (till 15 April 2018) claimed that in the year 2018 out of 1812 missing children they were able to trace 954 children after they launched details investigation in every missing case which was reported.
