NEW DELHI: "Show me your files for four days, and I will teach you a lesson," Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenged the BJP-led Centre on Wednesday, adding that the Shunglu Committee appointed by the Centre failed to find any wrongdoing in the 440 government files of the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government.
Kejriwal's dare came on Wednesday while addressing a gathering to the mark third anniversary of AAP government.
He said that the Delhi government was struggling to get approval for its policies from Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, an appointee of the Centre. Talking about the files stuck with the LG, Kejriwal said his MLAs were forced to virtually camp at his residence whenever this happened.
He said 16-17 bills passed by the Delhi Assembly were pending with the Centre.
The Jan Lokpal Bill; Delhi School (Verification of Accounts and Refund of Excess Fee) Bill, 2015; the Delhi School Education (Amendment) Bill, 2015; the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Delhi Amendment) Bill; and a bill to turn Netaji Subhash Insitutute of Technology into a university were passed by the Delhi Assembly and were subsequently returned by the Centre.
Kejriwal expressed his anguish over the fact that the Centre is not interested in appointing a Lokpal for Delhi.
He also accused the LG of delaying his government's flagship Mohalla Clinics, with its files being sent back and forth for the past one and a half years.
He said that in the last three years since his government came to power, cases of corruption in the national capital have come down as the people elected an "honest government". "In the last three years, there has been a drop in the corruption, because three years ago the people of Delhi elected an honest government," Kejriwal said in a video message on Wednesday.
He said every single penny of the government funds is spent on development, including electricity, water, Mohalla clinics, hospitals, roads, school and colleges.
"We faced a number of hurdles, but for your rights, we fought on every step and even God helped us," the AAP national convenor further said.
"It is said when you follow the path of truth and honesty, then all the visible and invisible forces of this universe help you. And my biggest strength is you and the blessings of God. "I pray to God that we keep on serving the people in the same way," the AAP leader added.
The AAP had won 67 of the 70 seats in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections.
