Commuters in Delhi faced trouble on Tuesday night as heavy rains caused water-logging in different part of the national Capital, bringing traffic to a halt.
According to Delhi Traffic Police, waterlogging caused traffic jams at Iron Bridge ITO, Rajdhani Park towards Mundka, Narayana, Shadipur, Mayapuri, Moti Bagh, Chirag Delhi, BRT and Rajouri Garden, Apollo Hospital to Ashram, South Extension-1 near Lajpat Nagar Metro Station, Sarai Kale Khan towards Maharani Bagh, DND towards Barapullah, Lajwanti Garden towards Dhaula Kuan, Dhaula Kuan towards Gurugram, leading to traffic snarls that continued till Wednesday afternoon.
"A three-lane road has been reduced to one lane and there are bottlenecks along all major stretches. Even if it rains for a day, the affect remains for the next three days," said 25-year-old Leiyawon Huishunao, from Safdarjung Enclave.
Residents too faced hardships due to waterlogging in areas including Munirka, Jasola, Lajpat Nagar, Old Delhi, Rohini, Vikas Puri, Naraina, Delhi Cantonment, and Patparganj.
The agencies, however, continued blaming each other. The civic bodies said all waterlogging points were under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department, while the department blamed the corporations.
