Wanted Axle gang leader arrested from Hapur

Noida: The Gautam Budh Nagar Special Task Force team along with local police on Saturday night arrested a rewarded criminal and leader of Bawariya gang, commonly known as Axle gang.
The gang was active in Delhi NCR since past many years and was found involved in a number of robbery and murder incidents. The heinous Jewar gang rape incident was also committed by the members of this gang only. They usually target the vehicles travelling on expressways and highways.
The arrested main accused has been identified as Anil Bawariya who hails from Moradabad district in Uttar Pradesh. Keeping in mind the nature of crimes that were committed by this gang, police had declared a reward of Rs 12000 on the criminal.
"Several teams were formed who were conducting searches at various suspected locations to nab the culprit. Acting on a tip-off on Saturday night, a police team of special task force raided Pilakhuwa area under Hapur district. The team was successfully able to nab the criminal from a petrol pump of the area. We have recovered a Toyota Innova car and a. 312mm country made pistol and couple of ammunitions," said Raj Kumar Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police, special task force.
 "During interrogation, it was revealed that he along with his gang members committed a number of incidents like dacoity, robbery, rape and murder. Several cases in relevance to the criminal activities are registered against the gang in various districts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. In the year 2003, the gang robbed off a private car carrying two male and three female passengers on Delhi Muradabadh highway. They shot dead both the men and robbed them off with lakhs of jewellery and money. The car was stopped by them after throwing an axle which hit their car travelling" added Mishra.
"The criminal was currently active in Rajasthan after their gang robbed off five vehicles and murdered a man at a highway in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Under the pressure of getting arrested, he went to Rajasthan and conducted several similar incidents in Alwar, Pushkar and Bharatpur districts of the state". Following his arrest a fresh case under sections 420, 467, 468 IPC and section 25 of arms act has been registered against him at Pilakhuwa pilice station" Mishra continued.
