Victims of mob attack scared but won't leave Gurugram

Gurugram: Victims of the Bhondsi violence are yet to come over the fear a week after they were attacked and mercilessly beaten by a mob on March 21. The fear remains even as Gururgam police have made 10 arrests in the case so far. Despite the stringent actions by the law enforcement officials, the victims still are concerned about their safety.

For Mohammad Sajid, the pain inflicted by the assailants went beyond physical assault. A father whose son Shadab was beaten to an extent that he had to be admitted in Safdarjung hospital in Delhi. He left Baghpat 15 years ago for a better livelihood in Gurugram and was working in gas repairing centre in the area. Not only his son but even his six-year-old niece was injured in the incident.

Being hurt emotionally due to the entire incident, Sajid in distress highlight that how he could not save his children being targeted from the physical violence but has expressed hope that situation will improve. Sajid also affirmed that he will show courage and will not leave the area and he was overwhelmed by the support he and his family received from the people after the video of their assault was circulated in the social media.

Though the accused have been arrested from Naya Gaon under stringent sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the villagers have extended their support and said that their side of the story has not been taken. Moreover, many of the arrested accused have had a criminal record and according to the villagers they have embroiled in various fights in their neighbourhood.
