Two minors sexually assaulted in different cases, one accused held

Two separate incidents of sexual assault against women have come to the fore on Tuesday.

In the first incident, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly molested by her neighbour, who was in an inebriated state, in South West Delhi's Dwarka area.

In the other incident, a student from Sarvodya Kanya Vidyalaya in Malviya Nagar has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by her Uncle. The school authorities have forwarded the complaint to the local police station.

The accused in the first case lives in the girl's neighbourhood and had allegedly lured the girl from her house on the pretext of buying sweets.

According to a senior police official, "We had received information about the incident at 11.30 pm, after which we formed a team and rushed to the girl's house, where, after persuasion, she narrated the incident to us and her parents". The girl said that the accused had lured her away by telling her that he had some sweets for her. He said he had received a bonus from work and wanted to treat her. When she said that her parents weren't around, he desperately lured her and took her to an isolated spot and touched her inappropriately.

The accused later threatened the girl with dire consequences but she somehow managed to wrest free of the accused and came home crying. A neighbour informed her mother about the incident after which the police got the information.

 "A case was registered in the incident. The accused has been arrested from his house. He was in an inebriated state while committing the crime," said Surender Kumar, deputy Commissioner of Police (South -West).

 The second case came to light when the victim girl had confided in her teacher about the incident where she alleged to being sexually assaulted by her relative. Her teacher held a meeting with the senior school authorities after which the Principal had registered a complaint at the local police station.

"We have received a complaint. Her statement is being recorded, after which appropriate action will be taken," said a senior police official privy to the investigation.
