New Delhi: An IAF aspirant was stabbed by three persons in a robbery bid near ticket counter at Samaypur Badli railway station.
Police said that the victim was saving his father when he was attacked. The two accused in the case had been arrested within 15 hours.
Police identified the accused as Varun (24) and Shankar (25). Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railway) Dinesh Gupta said that on the intervening night of March 16-17, complainant, resident of Palwal, along with his son came to Samaypur Badli Railway Station, as the boy has to appear in competitive exam for recruitment in Indian Air Force early morning.
"Both father and son were lying near the ticket counter of Railway Station. At about 2:50 am, three persons overpowered complainant and robbed his mobile phone and purse at the knife point," said DCP Dinesh Gupta.Police said that in the meantime, his son, who was sleeping near to him wake up and tried to release his father from their clutch.
In the meantime, all the three accused also overpowered the son and stabbed him with a knife on the right side of his abdomen. A raid was conducted and on the basis of identification and pointing out of complainant, Varun and Shankar was apprehended. They disclosed that they could get only Rs 200 in cash in this robbery. The other absconding accused, Pammi gave them Rs 100.
To fulfil their lust of drugs and intoxicants, they are in continuous need of money.
Initially, they use to commit petty thefts in trains and other places but they did not find it safe and there were chances of being caught.
The press statement of Delhi Police said that the accused found that Samay Pur Badli Railway Station and Badli Metro station remain calm and peaceful during night time and often the poor passengers of railway and others use to take rest at the platform, waiting room and vacant space near ticket counter of Samay Pur Badli Railway Station. "Often those incidents were not reported to police. This has encouraged them," said DCP Railway.
