Two held for demanding Rs 5 cr ransom

New Delhi: A 28-year-old man was kidnapped by two men in Outer Delhi area. Police claimed that the accused made ransom call of Rs 5 crore but were later arrested from Nilothi Extension area.
According to police, the incident was reported on December 9, when one S Gupta, resident of Karampura, went to his branded showroom chain store of electronics at Paschim Vihar, Delhi and did not come back till 9:30 pm. The family of the victim got the calls and caller told that their son is with them. The family approached police and a case was registered. In the morning of December 10, the complainant got a ransom call of Rs 5 crore followed by 5-6 more calls in which victim tried to finalize the ransom money. Accordingly, Section 364 (A) of IPC was added.
Police further claimed that door to door survey was done in around 250 houses and the photograph of the victim was shown to many people taking all precautions. On December 11, an information was received that a Wagon-R car was seen in a suspicious condition at Nilothi Extension. A trap was laid and the house was raided where the victim was successfully rescued from the clutches of two persons namely Manish and Satnam Singh.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) MN Tiwari said the accused persons during interrogation disclosed that they hatched a conspiracy to kidnap the accused and accordingly took a room on rent at Chander Vihar. Manish was previously employed at victim's godown in Karol Bagh 4-5 years back.
The DCP further claimed that they did a proper recce of the shop and victim. Ultimately they kidnapped him from near fire brigade office, Paschim Vihar at gunpoint and smelled him with Volini and another spray in a handkerchief and then they also tied him up in the car.
"They took him to the rented house. They tempered with the number plate of the car of the victim. They took the victim to the Bahadurgarh and placed a call from there also to mislead the police. They further stated that they were in urgent need of money," the DCP said.
