A senior journalist of a local news channel was booked for allegedly molesting a woman from Gwalior, police said on Wednesday.
The woman was lured on the pretext of getting a job in his news channel, stated cops.
"The woman, who hails from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, has registered a complaint. She said that through some sources came in to the contact with a journalist who work in a local news channel of Noida. Sanjay Karan, the accused, called her to Noida on the pretext of making her the market distributor of the media firm.
"Her accommodation was arranged by him at a guest house situated in Noida Sector-50, where the accused molested her and asked her to have physical relations with him if she wants to get the job" said Bijendra Singh Bhadana, Station House Officer, Sector-49 police station, Noida.
"Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against the accused for sexual harassment with the lady under section 234/17, 354, 354/D and 506 IPC. We are investigating the matter" added Bhadana.
According to the complainant, she was in contact with the accused for the past one month. After she landed in the city, the accused not only demanded a physical intimacy but also money from her.
When the woman refused his proposal, he started misbehaving and forced her into a physical relationship.
The woman somehow managed to flee the spot. Also, she was threatened of dire consequences if she lodged any complain against the accused.
